Student Academic Assistant
Castlewood Academy is accepting applications for a Student Academic Assistants in our JH and HS programs. Student Academic Assistants (SAAs) act as group advisers for our students. Each SAA is assigned to a specific dormitory, and the students in that dormitory become that SAA's proteges for the academic year (there are approximately twenty-five students assigned to each Academic Assistant). Assistants are expected to meet with each student under their watch at least once a week--more so, if the student is having any academic difficulties. Furthermore, SAAs must maintain a positive, close relationship with their students' teachers, staying abreast of current assignments and lessons.
SAAs are expected to be well-versed in all academic subjects and both practice and teach effective and healthy work habits. Applicants should also be able to effectively operate computers and programs which students are expected to use, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Drive. Throughout the academic year, Academic Assistants are expected to assist students with the following.
SAAs are housed in their respective dormitories and are expected be positive role models in and outside the dormitories, wherever students are present.
Applicants should have a strong academic record and experience teaching and/or supervising children. Applicants should demonstrate maturity, a healthy work ethic, ability to work with others on a regular basis, and an enthusiasm for positively impacting high school or middle school students' lives.

- Manage the stress and anxiety of rigorous academic demands and being away from home
- Develop healthy, responsible study habits
- Prepare for and take college entrance exams, such as the ACT
- Search for and assess post-secondary options
- Complete college applications and essays
- Complete scholarship applications and essays

REQUIREMENTS:
- Be at least 21 years of age or older
- High School diploma or equivalent is required
- A valid driver’s license with a good driving record and the ability to pass a MVR Check
- Ability and desire to work and live with youth
- Flexibility and willingness to work a wide array of hours, which will include days, evenings, weekends and holidays
- Ability to pass a thorough background check and reference verification procedure in order to determine one’s fitness to satisfactorily and safely care for youth
- Ability to attend a two weeks paid training in Sydney, SD
Maintenance Technician
Castlewood Academy is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Technician. Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for performing general/preventive maintenance and repairs on all physical structures and certain facility equipment, as well as grounds maintenance in compliance with established safety rules, policies and procedures. MTs will perform maintenance repairs such as: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, etc. They are responsible for maintaining curb appeal of the property, buildings and common areas.

Applicant must be able to work independently, to organize work, to establish priorities, to follow defined procedures, and to follow through in the completion of tasks. Applicant must be able to physically operate a snow blower, vacuum cleaner, lawn mower, and small hand tools.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete assigned work orders in a timely and professional manner.
- Implement preventative maintenance.
- Perform minor building, electrical, painting and plumbing repairs.
- Keep an inventory of repair supplies and materials and prepares requests to purchase for signature of property manager as replacement needs indicate.
- Complete final move-in and move-out inspections with property manager.
- Turn units in a timely manner: including painting, carpet cleaning, general cleaning and other tasks needed to get a unit "rent ready."
- Pick up and orders supplies from area vendors as needed while legally operating a registered and properly insured vehicle.
- Be alert to any emergencies, suspicious persons or events and notify appropriate staff.
Job Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, to organize work, to establish priorities, to follow defined procedures, and to follow through in the completion of tasks to meet established deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and in a business-like manner with other staff, residents, service workers, and others.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with stressful situations in a calm, organized and effective manner.
- Ownership of a car, or regular access to one, and ability to drive on company business. Must have a safe driving record.
- Make sure that work by service providers is done regularly including garbage collection, snow plowing, grounds maintenance, and maintenance repairs.
- Shovel snow, rake leaves, pick up litter as needed (where applicable), and cut grass (as assigned).
- Walk the grounds daily. Keep grounds free of debris and keep dumpster area picked up (where applicable).
- Clean maintenance areas, garage, mechanical rooms, and storage areas (where applicable).
- Replace burned-out light bulbs and wash out fixtures.
- Check fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and boilers according to your property specific preventative maintenance sheets. These should reflect state and city laws
